Imagine a bright red candied cherry onto a cookie or a cupcake. Doesn’t it sound yummy and irresistible? Candied cherries will elevate your pleasure to new heights.
Holiday season demands sweet candied red cherries and it’s quite impossible to have just one.
Candied cherries are always a part of my holiday season, which makes it more special. I still the remember the fights between me and my friends over those lip-smacking candied cherries.
Ingredients:
1 cup apple juice ½ fresh lemons ½ cup water 2 cups granulated sugar 1 pound fresh cherries (washed properly)
- In a saucepan, bring water and sugar to boil. Add fresh cherries and lemon into it. Cook for about 20 minutes until the syrup is red and somewhat thick.
- Cover and allow it to stand for overnight.
- Next morning, drain the cherries and reserve the syrup.
- Add apple juice to the reserved syrup and discard the lemon half.
- Boil the syrup for 5 minutes. Return the cherries to the syrup and lower the heat and cook until the syrup is thick.
