Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans was a name the world first heard in the fantasy world of Harry Potter.

Once a fiction, this candy is now a reality. And yes, they do come in various flavors that you heard of in the novels and movies and also some newly added flavors.

The Jelly Belly Company came out with the beans at the advent of the series but after the Harry Potter series was completed the company discontinued them. Some of the weird flavors were then incorporated into a new product, BeanBoozled.

In the fantasy world of Harry Potter, the beans did not have specific colors for flavors and hence they came with a tagline "a risk with every mouthful!”  Similarly, the BeanBoozled jellybeans come in pairs of flavors, a normal good one and the other a nasty one, bearing the same color. So, if you happened to pick up a white bean with yellow dots, you never know if it is Jelly Belly’s famous ‘Buttered Popcorn’ or is it the vomit inducing ‘Rotten Egg’. What more, they even have ‘Vomit’ flavored one, sharing its color with the ‘Peach’ flavored one.

Your blue colored bean can be either ‘Berry Blue’ or it can be ‘Toothpaste’. You might run to the garbage can if you happen to bite into a brown one thinking you have ‘Chocolate Pudding’, but it’s actually ‘Canned Dog Food’. Black – either it’s ‘Licorice’ or for the unfortunate, ‘Skunk Spray’. You might be biting into the red ‘Strawberry’ or have a taste of ‘Centipede’.  The yellow one with brown spots can be ‘Top Banana’ or it can be ‘Pencil Shavings’. If you like ‘Juicy Pear’ you are in for a dilemma, ‘Booger’ is also the same green with green spots. If you don’t like cheese, and ‘Moldy Cheese’ at that, stay clear of the light yellow one with brown spots; but it can also be ‘Caramel Corn’. The white or light beige one? It’s either ‘Coconut’ or its ‘Baby Wipes’!

The beans also come packaged with a spin wheel type game and it can be really good entertainment. It’s fun to watch others cringe as they bite into those weird flavors. But the tables can turn any moment and it may be you who is left with a bad taste in the mouth.
